Veggie Burger Recipe
Veggie burgers use lots of different ingredients. Many contain beans, like kidney beans or black beans. Lentils are another common ingredient, adding protein and a slightly nutty flavor
- Kidney Beans 1 can Can be substituted with black beans or chickpeas
- Lentils 1 cup Red or brown lentils work well
- Oats ½ cup Rolled oats or quick-cooking oats
- Onions 1 medium Can substitute with shallots or leeks
- Carrots 1 medium Shredded or finely chopped
- Breadcrumbs ½ cup Use panko for a crispier burger
Drain and rinse the beans and lentils.Finely chop the onion and carrot.In a large bowl, mash the beans and lentils slightly with a fork. Don’t make them completely smooth.Add the chopped onion, carrot, oats, and breadcrumbs to the bowl.Mix all ingredients well until they are combined.Shape the mixture into patties. Make them about ½ inch thick.Heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Cook the veggie burgers for 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and heated through.
